Congratulations

Congratulations to everyone from PEI Taekwondo and Beaton’s Taekwondo who went to Wagner’s Tournament this past weekend in Halifax.

Zach Purchase, Michael Ferguson, Ryan Ferguson and Matthew Ferguson all did great. There was also a great crowd from Beaton’s Taekwondo who did very well.

The next tournament is in Halifax on December 5th.

Annual General Meeting

The AGM for the WTF Taekwondo Association of PEI will be held on November 14th at 6:00 pm.

Board elections will be held and an agenda for other business will be circulated shortly. It will be held at PEI Taekwondo in Charlottetown.

Come and support your Association.

WTF Taekwondo Referee Course

There is going to be a Provincial Referee certification course offered on Saturday Nov 14th (9am to 4pm).  All students who are 13 years or older and green belt & up,  are eligible to sign up.  Successful students will be certified as a Provincial Referee.

This course is only offered once a year.  All 1st Dan/1st Poom are strongly encouraged to have the minimum level of P3.   The costs are as follows:

  • P3 level – $30
  • P2 level – $40
  • P1 level – $50

In order to do well in a game, you have to know the rules of the game.  The course outline consisted of learning the WTF rules, positions in the ring, the do’s and don’ts and so on.  Participants will benefit greatly with this course.  Any students interested in the national training seminar must have achieved the highest provincial level (P1) before moving to the N3 National level.

Deadline for registration is Oct 30th.  Please make cheque payable to PEI Taekwondo Association.

Family Class and Thanksgiving

Just a reminder that there will be no class this Monday due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Family classes will be starting up again on Wednesday nights from 6:00 to 7:00. This class is free to all family members of any PEI Taekwondo students – the only cost is for annual registration (insurance) if you decide to continue which is a total of $70 per family – so if you have one member of the family participating it is another $35 annually for everyone else in the family.

The format is a split class with the kids warming up in the front and the parents/older kids in the back. These two groups then train separately for the majority of the evening with the families training together for the last five or ten minutes. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to get in shape as a family (and without having to pay a babysitter). All you need are gym pants and a t-shirt to train.

Please post any questions to comments below.

Upcoming Tournaments

On October 17th, Island Martial Arts Centre will be hosting its tournament in Sydney Cape Breton. There will be a group going over from PEI and with Mr. Beaton acting as the head coach.

On October 24th, Wagners Taekwondo will be hosting their tournament in Halifax. We will be sending a group to this tournament with Mike Ives and Rodney Beaton coaching the team.

Please let us know who will be attending each of these tournaments so we can preregister you and if you need to travel with someone.
